While limiting your internet browser's ability to accept and store cookies can be considered a good practice to increase security on your computer, many websites and web-based applications, such as OSU's AIRS, require a user's computer to allow the use of cookies to function properly. Some users will experience issues in using these sites due to settings in their internet browser software. Here is a series of instructions on how to allow a specific site to use cookies in several popular browsers.
Internet ExplorerIn the toolbar select "Tools" Click "Internet Options"
Select the "Privacy" tab Click the "Sites" box
Add the address of the desired site address or domain in the input box, then click "Allow"
Mozilla FirefoxIn the toolbar select "Tools" Click "Options"
Select the "Privacy" tab Click the "Exceptions" box Add the address of the desired site address or domain in the input box, then click "Allow"
Google ChromeClick the wrench icon in the top right corner of the browser Click "Options"
Select the "Under the Hood" tab Under the "Privacy" heading, Click the "Content Settings" box Click the "Exceptions" box Click "Add..." In the "New Exception" window that pops up, enter the address of the desired site in the "Pattern" input box. You should not add a prefix such as http:// or https:// here. If the pattern is acceptable, the yellow box with a white exclamation point will change to a green box with a white check mark. Make sure the "Action" dropdown is set to "Allow" Click "OK" |
